Bamic Enterprises was founded in 2006 by MD Barbara Westcott. It became apparent that there IS a wide need for thermal products in many industries; logistics, (air, road and sea transport) retailing, agriculture, fruit, flowers, wine, meat, chicken, fish, dairy, pharmaceutical and the medical industries all need to use these sophisticated products to ensure the maintenance of quality and the efficiency, efficacy and security of the cold chain.
In some quarters there are those who erroneously believe that the only value that is important in maintaining the Cold Chain is the so called R value. This relates specifically to the heat Radiation (reflectivity) value of the materials used to protect products being handled in the cold chain. In order to provide genuine and meaningful insulation and maintain temperatures or stop temperature spikes, insulation needs to be a combination of the following – Conduction, Convection and Radiation. Together the efficiency of all three is expressed in what is termed the Lambda Value (W/m.K) and it is this and only this that determines how effective insulation can be. What’s more the lower the co-efficient (below 0.065W/m.K) the better the Lambda value therefore the better the materials will be at providing effective insulation. Don’t let anyone tell you any different. This is real science and can be verified by any university Faculty of Engineering.
