THERMAL SPACE BLANKETS
We now offer the Kelvalite range of space blankets made from a specially designed foil. They are lightweight but very effective at maintaining body heat and are used extensively in medical emergencies and by athletes and spectators when the temperatures require one keeping warm. These space blankets can be branded making them an ideal giveaway at out door events.
MEDIWRAP® THERMAL BLANKET
Constructed from the extremely thermally efficient Mediwrap® textile, the Mediwrap® blanket helps to minimise all four forms of heat loss – conduction, convection, evaporation and radiation. It is soft and comfortable on the inside, whilst being completely water resistant and wind proof on the outside, it is also latex free and invisible to x-rays.
The Mediwrap® blanket will completely prevent the onset of trauma induced hypothermia and has been widely used by British Military Medics in both Iraq and Afghanistan to assist in immediate victim stabilisation and retrieval.
As a passive warming system the Mediwrap® blanket can be used anywhere without the need to connect to a separate heat supply. Each blanket is individually wrapped, lightweight and easy to store or carry making it ideally suited for use in combat casualty care or any emergency situation.
The U.K.’s National Institute for Health & Clinical Excellence (NICE) Clinical Guideline 65 (April 2008) – Inadvertent Perioperative Hypothermia states:
The patient should be adequately covered throughout the intraoperative phase to conserve heat, and exposed only during surgical preparation.
The system will not only maintain patient temperature, but can help raise it. An independent study* sought to test whether the Mediwrap Passive Warming System could be used to warm hypothermic patients. It concludes: This study has shown that Mediwrap produced a statistically significant rise in temperature during the recovery period.
As a passive warming system Mediwrap products can be used anywhere. The Mediwrap textile can be cut to allow easy and direct access to the patient and the specific operative field, whilst maintaining patient warmth. The completely flexible nature of the Mediwrap system means that a single style of blanket can be used for all procedures, eliminating the need to hold stock of different procedure types.
Utilising the innovative high protection Mediwrap® textile, the Critiwrap and Paediwrap offer a self-contained and independent warming system for the transportation of critically ill and injured adult or child patients. Each wrap fully envelops the patient and the built-in hood ensures only the face is exposed.
These wraps have been designed to offer full access to any part of the patient very quickly via full length Velcro fastening, which can be easily resealed for maximum heat retention. Critiwraps and Paediwraps provide the critically ill patient with a secure, clean and thermally retentive environment free from contamination and exposure.
The Mediwrap® Disposable Ambulance Pack is used by Emergency Services, Military Medics and Emergency Planners in place of traditional bedding. With a new bedding set used for each trolley, the pack helps to cut the risk of cross infection for patients and staff. When patient transfer includes leaving the bedding with the patient or in situations where laundry is not available (such as field hospitals), the single use Ambulance Pack provides a high quality alternative. The Disposable Ambulance Pack contains a Mediwrap Blanket, Absorbent Barrier Sheet, Absorbent Pillow Case and Yellow Clinical Waste Bag for easy disposal.
